On August 2nd, 28 artists and techies gathered together at the Jury Room restaurant Downtown for the first Wunderblender. Participants were arranged in rotating inside/outside circles and talked in pairs for 4 minutes before moving on to the next conversation. Sound familiar? This is Wonderland's version of speed dating. But instead of chatting about long walks at the beach and candlelit dinners, participants brainstormed collaborative ideas exploring the intersection of art and technology. Some were entrepreneurial, some were silly, but all were synergetic. Afterwards, participants were invited to write down and share the "best", "funniest", and "most likely to happen" ideas that they encountered.
If you missed Wunderblender the first time around, don't fret. This will be a recurring program with the next event tentatively planned for October. Fill out an application and we'll keep you posted about the next event. Here's a sampling of the ideas generated so far:
Best Idea:
- A large scale interactive instrument made from found objects.
- A progressive online comic in which an artist makes a storyboard based on the previous panel created by another artist.
Funniest Idea:
- An online neighborhood patrol
- A sculpture novel (a twist on the graphic novel)
Most Likely to Happen:
- A creative civic showcase
- A motion comic
